Starling Bank has shaken up the banking industry with its mobile-only bank, putting people back in control of their money. However, to support its UK launch last year, the UK’s fastest growing card manufacturer, allpay Card Services, carried out the production of its eye-catching contactless card, implementing the bank in just eight weeks.
Starling Bank approached allpay in June 2016 – ahead of gaining its UK Banking Licence to assist with the production of its contactless debit card design and production.
The bank had originally approached another UK-based supplier but it was unable to meet the bank’s tight timescales, with frustrations over its unresponsiveness and quality.
Chief Operating Officer Julian Sawyer said:
We were a new start-up looking to get to market quickly. As such we wanted flexibility and agility, someone who could move at pace – we didn’t want to deal with a global supplier – we wanted a high-quality product from a reliable, flexible supplier.
